Rules and Regulations
2008 ART COMPETITION GUIDELINES

• This competition is open to high school career and technical education students.
• Your artwork must follow these guidelines:
- Your artwork will be permanently displayed in the Ohio ACTE office; therefore you should only submit artwork you will not need for other purposes or you do not wish returned.
• Artwork categories are as follows:
- Paintings (oil, acrylics, watercolors, etc.)
- Drawings (pastels, colored pencils, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers)
- Functional/useful pieces (such as a magazine holder, small shelf)
- Prints (lithographs, silkscreen, block prints)
- Mixed Media (use of two or more mediums, such as ink and pencil)
- Computer generated art
- Photography
- Sculptures
- Figurines
- Cartoons
-Any other form of visual art
-Handmade project related to student’s field of study
• Any piece submitted that is not original in concept, design and execution will not be accepted.
• Framing Guidelines (All entries that are meant to hang MUST be framed):
- Matting is allowed but should be carefully prepared.
- Use sturdy picture hangers. Do not attach any wire to the back of the work.
- Do not attach labels to the front of the piece. Attach all labels to the back of the frame, along with arrows indicating which side is up and which is down, if the piece is abstract.
- Attach a label to the back of the artwork with the information below included.

The deadline to submit artwork is June 1st, 2008. The winner of this competition will receive a $500 scholarship, 2nd place will receive $200 and 3rd place will receive $150. Please send entries to

Submissions may also be permanently displayed at the Ohio ACTE Office

*If no suitable entries are submitted, Ohio ACTE reserves the right to not make an award.
