    Ohio ACTE Student Showcase

    March 12, 2015

    The Ohio Statehouse Atrium




    The Ohio ACTE Student Showcase is an opportunity for career-technical students to showcase their CTE program to Ohio's Legislators and their legislative staff. 


    There is no registration fee to participate, and lunch will be provided by Ohio ACTE. Schools will be responsible for travel expenses.


    Schools will be provided with a 6' table to use for their display. Each school may bring up to 4 students and 3 instructors.


    Participation for this event is limited, so schools must apply to be considered.  Click the register button on the left to fill out an electronic application. Applications are due by January 31, and schools will be notified of acceptance via e-mail by Friday, February 13 in order to prepare displays for the event.


    Detailed information about set-up times and statehouse tours will be provided once schools are accepted.

    2015 All Ohio Career-Technical and Adult Education Connections to Education Conference

    Call for Presentation Proposals

    Deadline for Proposals is January 31.

    Connect to other career-technical and adult educators throughout Ohio by sharing your experience, wisdom and knowledge by presenting an information session at the 2015 Ohio ACTE Annual Connections to Education Conference.

    The Conference Committee is now accepting proposals and is especially interested in all topics related to the following:

    -Career Exploration
    -Technology
    -Innovative Instruction
    -Organizational/Classroom Management
    -Leadership
    -Career Fields
    -Marketing and Communication
    -General Interest

    Specifics:


    Step 1 – Complete the online form (click “register” on the left to begin). The person completing the form will be the main contact. This online form is required for all proposals.

     

    Step 2 - On the online form, you will be asked to supply a session description, information and answer “what attendees will learn.” You may include co-presenters and should have their name(s) and biography information ready to include in the online form.

     

    Step 3 – You will receive a confirmation email upon submission of a proposal. Please remember that correspondence will only be sent to the main presenter.

     

    Step 4 – You will be notified of acceptance on/around March 1, 2015. You will then be asked to fill out an online speaker agreement.

    Step 5 – You will be assigned your specific session day/date/time closer to the Conference and main presenters will be notified. They are asked to share the information with co-presenters.


    Step 6 – Attend the 2015 All Ohio Career –Technical and Adult Education Conference Monday, July 27 - Wednesday, July 29 at the Hilton - Easton Columbus.

     

    General Information:


    - All submissions must be completed online.

    - Deadline for submissions is January 31, 2015 and accepted presentations will be notified around March 1.

    - All concurrent sessions are 60 minutes in length, which includes the question and answer period.
    - Interaction with participants is highly encouraged.
    - You can request a screen and projector, although presenters must supply their own laptop.
    - Internet connectivity and audio speakers are available on a limited basis. 
    - Presenters are asked to register and attend the Conference.



    *Vendors and Business Members whose presentations are accepted will be asked to contribute $500 to help cover Conference expenses.

    Career Development Through Career Connections:

    2015 All-Ohio Career-Technical and Adult Education Pre-Conference

     

    2015 is an exciting year for Career Connections. Presentations on making the most of OhioMeansJobs K-12, implementing the new state law for career advising and student success plans, and starting career pathways in your school will be provided.  This event is sure to give you new ideas and resources for kicking off the school year! Teachers, School Counselors and Administrators are encouraged to attend this one-day event for best practices on preparing all students for successful futures.

     

    ***This workshop is being held in conjunction with the Ohio ACTE Connections to Education Conference (July 27 - 29) and is for those who wish to attend ONLY this session.

      The Ohio STEM Equity Pipeline Workshop:
    2015 All-Ohio Career-Technical and Adult Education Post-Conference
     
     
    The Ohio STEM Equity Pipeline first started in 2009 through the support of The National Alliance for Partnerships in Equity (NAPE) with funding from The National Science Foundation (NSF).
     
    In the 2013-2014 academic year, two new projects were implemented using NAPE's "Micromessaging to Reach and Teach Every Student" Program.
     
    The workshop will be an opportunity to learn about these exciting and innovative projects and the outcomes of their work; learn about best practices from other STEM Equity Pipeline projects in the State; and network with other professionals who are dedicated to access, equity, and diversity in career-technical education.
