    Byrl R. Shoemaker CTE Institute Application

    Application deadline:  April 30, 2016

    The Shoemaker Institute begins at the Ohio ACTE Summer Conference (July 25-27, 2016) and ends at the following year's conference, with in-person and virtual meetings throughout the year.   Click here for the current year's schedule,  which will give you an idea of the time commitment/meeting requirements.

    Application Process:

    Potential participants must complete the online application/registration on the left and mail in supporting materials including a letter of support/recommendation from the applicant’s supervisor indicating approval of participation.

    Upon acceptance, applicant is expected to pay the full registration cost of $850 prior to the first meeting.   There is no application fee.

    Additional Participant Costs Include:

    • Membership Dues in Ohio ACTE
    • Registration for the program:  $850 (college credit may be available through partner institutions)
    • Registration to the Legislative Seminar
    • Registration to the Connections to Education Conference
    • Hotel costs, travel expenses for meetings must be paid by registrant. Some meals will be provided, others will be at the participants’ expense.
    • Books, materials – TBD

    No refunds will be given for those who drop out or do not complete the program.

    There are two set-up options for exhibitors.

    - Monday, July 25 - You may set up from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, or after 7:00 pm. Monday you are welcome to attend the Opening Networking Reception with attendees from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. You may NOT set up during the reception.

    - Tuesday, July 26 - You must set up before 7:00 am.

    2016 Connections to Education Conference Speaker Agreement 

    • All presentations will take place on either Tuesday, 26 or Wednesday, July 27, unless otherwise specified. 
    • A link to important presenter information was sent in the e-mail you received. If you did not read that information, please click here to read it now or visit www.OhioACTE.org/presenter to read the information online.
    • After you read the information, please click the GREEN REGISTER BUTTON to the left to provide your electronic signature, verifying you have read the information and are still planning on presenting at the Conference. Please "register"/complete the form ASAP so we can hold your session spot!
    • Please make sure you pay close attention to the questions referring to audio visual needs as your room/session assignment will based on your answers to those questions.
    • If you have multiple presentations, you only need to fill out this form once, but you will receive separate confirmation emails.

    2016 All-Ohio Career-Technical and Adult Education Pre-Conference Opportunity


    2016 is an exciting year for Career Connections. Presentations on making the most of OhioMeansJobs K-12, implementing the new state law for career advising and student success plans, and starting career pathways in your school will be provided.  This event is sure to give you new ideas and resources for kicking off the school year! Teachers, School Counselors and Administrators are encouraged to attend this one-day event for best practices on preparing all students for successful futures.

    Meeting Notice

    The Assembly of Delegates Meeting will take place during the 2016 Annual Conference

    Division Presidents are responsible for insuring Delegate attendance.


    Note: Members do not have to register for the Conference in order to attend ONLY to  serve as a delegate.  They cannot attend the rest of the Conference without registering.


    Proposed amendments to the Ohio ACTE Constitution and Bylaws must be presented in writing to the Ohio ACTE Constitution and Bylaws Committee postmarked no later than sixty (60) days preceding the Delegates Assembly per article V of the Ohio ACTE Constitution and Bylaws.  For 2016, proposed amendments are due no later than May 25, 2016.

    The Ohio ACTE Success Series is a professional development program for career-technical teachers and instructors. It is delivered by teachers, for teachers at schools that offer to host the program.
