Each year, Ohio ACTE awards two students with the Darrell Parks Student Scholarship, which provides $1,000 toward the continuing education of career-technical graduates. After considering almost 200 applicants, Ohio ACTE is awarding the Darrell Parks Scholarship to Kaysee Truman of Delaware Area Career Center, and Joseph Wenning of Tri Star Career Compact. Darrell Parks selected the winners of this year's scholarships, who will be recognized at this year's Connections to Education Conference.
Kaysee Truman is a health technology student at Delaware Area Career Center. During her time at the career center, Kaysee has participated in internships at Edgewood Manor of Westerville, a facility specializing in treating Alzheimer's disease, and at Ohio Health in the phlebotomy lab. Upon graduation Kaysee plans to work as a phlebotomist at Ohio Health while going to school to earn her BSN and eventually become a nursing practitioner.
Joseph Wenning is a engineering technology student at Tri Star Career Compact. Joseph has been extremely involved while at Tri Star, participating in 4-H, National Honor Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, FCCLA, band, and serving at Tri Star's class president. After he graduates, Joseph plans to attend the University of Toledo where he will major in mechanical engineering.
Congratulations to both students, their families, instructors and the staff at their schools!
