Ohio high school students engaging in CTE not only meet standard academic requirements but also immerse themselves in hands-on courses spanning diverse fields such as engineering, healthcare, computer graphics, auto technology, and culinary arts among the 16 available career options.
Contrary to common belief, statistics from the Ohio Department of Education reveal that approximately 50% of CTE students pursue further education. Every Ohio high school student has the opportunity to enroll in a career-technical education program, tailored to their chosen field and delivered through either dedicated career centers or local high schools. Beyond the classroom, many CTE programs extend support to regional residents, preparing them for post-high school opportunities.
Career Technical Education is accessible to all Ohio high school students, with delivery models adapting to community and student needs through three distinctive approaches:
1. Compact Partner Districts : Collaborative efforts between districts, offering varied programming to all Compact students.
2. Comprehensive: Integrated into high school course offerings.
3. Joint Vocational School Districts: Students within a Joint Vocational School District attend either full or partial school days dedicated to career-tech education.
